Three fixtures on Tuesday afternoon, but not a lot of joy for our St Edmund's teams, I'm afraid.

The Under 15 hockey boys came up against one of the best drilled and skilled sides in the county from Sutton Valence, and went down 0 - 4, despite the massive efforts of all concerned, and especially Max Bungay in midfield.

The Under 15 girls played their first competitive match of the netball seaon, and also lost to Sutton Valence by a 9 - 17 scoreline. The St Edmund's captain Rowan Jones had a 'fantastic match' according to coach Trudie Cliff, but could not carry her side to victory.

The Pilgrims - the boys' 2nd XI hockey team - entertained a Harvey GS XI at the UKC astroturf after afternoon school and ended up 2 - 1 winners as coach Simon Buckingham, after a joyless football season, produced his first 'three-pointer' of the academic year! Goals from Ben Kemp and Dominic Morgan, plus a good team display, featuring Alexander Rawlins in goal ensured the win. Well done!

Again, congratulations to the senior basketball squad who returned to the court on Wednesday against a very strong side from St Lawrence College. The School missed the strength of Carl Fryer under the basket, but, with Arnie Dunning playing out of position to nullify their 6'8" giant, a final scoreline of 37 - 28 reflected an excellent squad performance. 11 - 2 up after the first quarter, coach Millard was able to give everyone some court time, but victory was only guaranteed with a return to a 'first five' for the last several minutes. Then a series of interceptions and court-length drives and lay-ups took us clear against an exhausted opposition. Zhaoqi Tong top scored with 10, Dunning bagged just 6, and Ricky Ng 8. Zhenhao Zhang returned to the squad, and made a major contribution in that 'first five'.
