'Stomp' - New Ambassadors' Theatre

Date: Wednesday 27 January 2010

In the days - soon to return - of major outings on St Edmund's Day, a matinee performance of 'Stomp', allowing for a day in London, was one of the most popular of activities.

So it proved last Monday when a party of 37 Music Scholars, Music Technologists, and staff travelled to Shaftesbury Avenue, to watch, and take part in two hours of enjoyable and energetic entertainment, set in a scrapyard, and on the premise that rhythm can be created from any everyday object.

Music Scholars themselves had not been to 'Stomp' for the better part of a decade, and Will Bersey found the whole experience both awesome and humbling as the stamina of the eight-person cast was something to be marvelled at!

All in all, a thoroughly worthwhile venture, as ever illustrating the opportunities offered at St Edmund's for 'extension' in every department. Tomorrow, come and see (hear?) an internal event - a Lunchtime Recital at 1.45pm in the Recital Hall. You will most certainly be very welcome.
