Inter-House Bridge Building Competition
Date: Saturday 28 November 2009
The Inter-House Bridge-Building competition this month followed on from the success of last year's tower building competition. The objective this time was to build the longest bridge, spanning the widest gap, the only materials available being two handfuls of maize packing puffs and 100 wooden cocktail sticks.
There were two categories of entrant: for Years 3 to 5 and for Years 6 to 8. In Lower School (Years 3 to 5) the winners were Alexander Roe and Jack Selmon (Becket), whose bridge spanned 107 cm. In Upper School the winner was Nathan Gambrill (Marlowe) whose bridge spanned 102 cm. All participants, individuals and teams, earned points for their Houses. Well done all those who took part: it was a fantastic competition with many intriguing and ingenious designs!
