Inter-House Squash: Lent 2010

Date: Wednesday 24 February 2010

The final of this competition took place yesterday afternoon at the Canterbury Squash Racquets Club, and saw Baker win a comprehensive victory over Warneford. Four ties were won, and the fifth was conceded as Warneford could only field a team of four.

This was the chance for Baker, led powerfully by Henry Withrington and the Dunning brothers, to clinch a new trophy, awarded by the former Baker Housemaster, Ian Narburgh, who retired from St Edmund's last summer. He had been challenged to provide a replacement for the somewhat battered original cup, and we are most grateful for his generous donation. And, of course, it was only appropriate that Baker should be its first winners, and holders.

Warneford, with team players Connor and Hitchcock fought hard, but it was destined to be Baker's day; Wagner and Watson will fight it out next Wednesday for third place points in the long run towards the 'Cock House' trophy at the end of the year.
