St Edmund's 1 Sir Roger Manwood's 1

Date: Thursday 25 February 2010

Two senior hockey fixtures this afternoon were played as scheduled against Sir Roger Manwood's School, with the Pilgrims entertaining their 2nd XI at the UKC, and the 1sts travelling to Polo Farm to take on their 1sts.

The Pilgrims had a good day, returning to winning ways after the setback against Chatham House. Two goals from Ben Kemp, and one apiece from Dom Morgan and Rob Penn were the basis for a convincing 4 - 1 win. Oscar Jackson's knees once again bear the scars of battle; astroturf is far more brutal than good old English turf!

The 1sts lost a high scoring game by 4 goals to 6, having three times been in the lead, before conceding three consecutive goals in the second half. Nathan Deeble scored twice, with Jonathan Clarke and Declan Connor each netting once, before some defensive lapses, and maybe a lack of practice on Monday (?), cost us control in the latter stages.

King's Canterbury are next up for the 1sts on Tuesday afternoon, in a busy run up to the Frank Mason Tournament on Thursday 11th March.
