Tennis - Kent Schools Winter Doubles
Date: Friday 5 March 2010
At the crack of dawn today, Miss Cliff and her team of Sofia Williams, Katie NcNie, Carlotta Kopietz and Charlotte Lench, set off for the Bromley Tennis Centre for some pre-season practice against a wide range of Kentish schools, grammar schools and independent schools alike.
The SES girls were drawn in Groups 3 and 4, and played either matches of just 3 or 4 games! The 1st pair of McNie and Williams finished 5th in their group, with a single win, 2 - 1, over Dartford GS; the 2nd pair, Kopietz and Lench came 4th, with a best result of a 2 - 2 draw against Tunbridge Wells Girls GS. The opposition was tough: Benenden and Sevenoaks certainly have a real tennis pedigree, and showed it, in depth!
It was, as Miss Cliff said, a chance to play together as new pairings ready for the Summer Term. Miss Kopietz looks to be a good signing; in addition to her colours for hockey, she seems likely to earn a similar reward on the courts.
