Visit by Japanese teacher trainees

We were delighted to play hosts to the annual visit of Japanese teacher training students last week. The students live at the Chaucer Japanese College, just on the other side of the University Road from our grounds. Their visit to St Edmund’s Junior School is part of a wider programme of schools visits all over Europe.

The students spent the morning observing lessons in the Pre-Prep and Lower School and then had lunch in the dining hall. In the afternoon they ran a series of workshops for Form 4 children in origami, calligraphy and basic Japanese language.

Again this year, it was a mutually beneficial day and for our part the children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop activities, gaining a glimpse into a culture other than their own.
