Inaugural Cross-Curricular Theme Day

With end of year exams behind us, on Monday 21st June we held our first cross-curricular Theme Day. This innovation involved every child in the school, from Form 3 to Form 8, and the theme for this inaugural event was ‘Pattern’. Every member of the teaching staff offered two sessions of their choosing and design providing there was some link with ‘Pattern’. ...Form 7 team-building & leadership day at Arena Pursuits

On the annual Form 7 team-building and leadership day at Arena Pursuits, near Bewl Water, pupils were stretched physically and mentally and encouraged to experience the benefits of good team skills through a range of practical challenges. ...Form 6 field trip to Wimereux and Boulogne

On 22nd June the whole of Year 6 spent a day on the other side of the Channel at Wimereux and Boulogne. Having learnt how to shop in French prior to departure, Form 6 pupils displayed great confidence in asking for food items in Wimereux market - freshly roasted chicken, various French cheeses, baguettes, strawberries, cherries etc. From there a short walk led us to the delightful promenade alongside a wide sandy beach where the pupils tucked into their purchases with the enthusiasm expected of a group of youngsters who had been up since the crack of dawn. The chickens were picked to the bone, and few crumbs of the baguettes were left for the hungry seagulls who had been eyeing us up! ...'Summer Serenade' - June 29th 2010

Saturday 12th June saw the last of the four maths masterclasses for Years 5 and 6 mathematicians from St. Edmund's and local Primary Schools. The topic for the session was "Strategy ~ or how a little bit of maths can outwit your opponent" and it was run by Richard Austen, maths teacher and Second Master (deputy head) at St Edmund’s Junior School. ...To All Music Lovers!
