St Edmund’s Talks
The Curiosity Shop brings together inspiring and successful speakers and provides a space where pupils’ questions are encouraged and new ideas are explored. Our speakers come from all walks of life and have arrived at their success by different routes – but all are experts in their field and eager to share their knowledge and experience.
In the half-hour long talks pupils are able to learn about topics outside of the curriculum and across a broad range of subject areas. From the wonders of science and maths, to insights into historical events; from careers advice to stories of personal survival and triumph, the talks are engaging, inspirational and motivational. Not only providing a platform for pupils to experience more of a university-style lecture, The Curiosity Shop also encourages pupils to network, to meet local pillars of the community and to discover routes into professions they may not have considered before.
The Curiosity Shop talks challenge pupils to think about the people they want to be and to look to the future. By attending, pupils increase their knowledge of the world and awareness of the values vital to success and achievement.
The talks are open to all year groups and staff and parents are very welcome to attend – the atmosphere is informal, inviting and refreshments are provided for all.
Full details about each talk can be found in the events calendar.
