School Routine

2013_SS_GeneralRegistration for pupils takes place in House areas.  Pupils simply report their presence to their Housemasters between 8.00 and 8.30 in the mornings, and again between 2.00 and 2.20 in the afternoon.

Each weekday begins with one of a rotation of activities that run from 8.35 to 9.00:

Monday          Head’s Line, in Chapel –  a full school assembly
Tuesday         Tutor meeting
Wednesday     Chapel service
Thursday        House Lines, in House areas –  a meeting of the whole House led by Housemasters, followed by tutor meeting
Friday            Chapel service

Each day is divided into ten periods, though most of these operate as double lessons.  For Senior School pupils, periods 1 to 6 constitute morning lessons, followed by a one hour break for lunch, and then there are four afternoon lessons.

Lesson times are as follows:

Period 1                     9.05 –  9.40
Period 2                     9.40 – 10.15
Break (25 min)          10.15 – 10.40
Period 3                    10.40 – 11.15
Period 4                    11.15 – 11.50
Break (10 min)          11.50 – 12.00
Period 5                    12.00 – 12.35
Period 6                    12.35 –  1.10
Lunch                        1.10 –   2.10
Period 7                     2.10 –  2.45
Period 8                     2.45 –  3.15
Break (10 min)           3.15 –  3.25
Period 9                     3.25 –  4.00
Period 10                   4.00 –  4.30

After school, day pupils may leave for home, or they may choose to take part in the activity programme that operates after school.  Pupils may also work in the Library or IT Room, perhaps completing some prep to reduce the amount of work that has to be taken home.
