Junior School Sport w/c 21 January 2019

The Kent Schools’ County Cross Country Championships at the Duke of York’s, Dover, last Saturday witnessed large numbers in beautiful but cold conditions. The Under 12 team which had previously won the Canterbury District Competition competed with determination in an excellent field, with Adam Whitlock finishing 3rd, Henry Goodwin 14th and Charlie Alexander a good 46th in a field of over 120. Zoe Rogers also had a top 50 finish in the F8 girls race. Both Adam and Henry move on to the Regional finals in March at Christ’s Hospital School, Surrey.

The Under 13A and B Girls’ netball teams had 2 convincing wins on Monday against Dover College and 5 teams played on Wednesday against the tough opposition of St Lawrence College, the final result being 2 losses, 2 wins and a draw. This meant that all girls in Form 7 and 8 played in a competitive school fixture this week, unless injured or suffering from illness.

The boys’ hockey teams had a week of practise after a busy start to the season, although the Under 11s and Under 10s have had 5 fixtures this afternoon against our friends from the Medway, King’s Rochester, results will follow in next week’s round-up.

The PE rotations are now up and running after fitness testing has been completed, with Badminton, Gymnastics and fitness circuits taking place in PE.

The PE Department’s Lower School netball and hockey club is flourishing but it was great to see such a great turn out for the pre school basketball ‘wake up and shake up’ club on Thursday morning with over 20 eager athletes taking part in this fun session.
