Sport, sport, sport…

… a round-up of senior sport at St Edmund’s w/c 14 January

Whilst the temperature plummeted this week, it certainly didn’t take the heat out of our fixture card. The U15 and U15 pupils took to the pitches and courts on Tuesday afternoon with some pleasing outcomes.

Netball versus Ashford School was very successful indeed, with three wins and one loss. The A teams in both age groups came away with impressive victories, 29-3 for the U14’s and 36-11 for the U15’s. The B teams played equally impressive games with a 16-11 win for the U15’s. The U14’s struggled to convert their chances in this week’s game, which was unfortunate in an otherwise very even match.

The boys’ hockey had some tough oppostition in King’s Rochester but the U15’s held them to a 1-1 draw with some excellent attacking play. The U14’s were less fortunate but showed resilience in a 1-3 defeat.

Thursday’s senior games saw a complete annihilation of King’s Rochester in both the 1st and 2nd team boy’s hockey with 16-0 and 12-0 respectively.  There were multiple hat tricks. Congratulations to Samik Shretha, Ben Shepherd, Harry Linch, Freddie Northover, Seb Coleman and Max Lester.

Ashford School hosted our Senior Girls’ netball teams and we came away with two wins, a draw and one loss. Keenly contested games once again but our girls are proving a more physical force this season. The 1st team in particular mean business. Fast, accurate passing and superb shooting led to a  20-11 win.

Co-curricular clubs have resumed with Mr Symaka’s girls’ football club braving the bitter cold on Thursday lunchtime for their first session. Fitness takes place on Tuesday mornings at 7.45 – a keen group of pupils are working towards running the Canterbury Park Run in a few week’s time.
