Junior School Sport w/c 4 February 2019

It is now common place in Junior School Sport for maximum participation on match days. Once again every girl from Form 5 to 8 represented the school this week in a series of 7 fixtures against the Duke of York’s School and Spring Grove.

Results were evenly shared, with our strong U13A,B and C squads recording positive results. A couple of key players missing lower down the school meant the U11A and B teams didn’t have there shooting force in operation, but they both showed excellent handling and movement in close games with the A team losing an excellent game indoors 2-0.

The boys’ Hockey fixtures during this term tend to be a little more spread out due to facility usage and the fact that nearly all hockey nowadays in played on artificial surfaces. However, the U13A team swept aside Chatham House Grammar School, Thanet, 4-0. Next week all teams will be in action once again to complete our busy fixture card.

Form 3 continue to progress with their gymnastics with Mrs Relf coming to end of their balance program. Form 4,5 and 6 have also nearly completed their introduction and progression lessons in Badminton and a high level of skill and improvement has been clear to see in this young group.

This weekend 3 of our Form 7 sports’ scholars are representing Canterbury District in the Under 12 County Football semi-finals away to Bromley, best of luck to Stanley Allom, George Wager and Will Knoupe in what I’m sure will be a tough fixture.

The JS PE Department have already established our athletics track for the start of our next half term with the support and expertise of Robert and Richard our hard working Groundsmen. Is spring in the air?!
