Art workshop with St Anselm’s School
This week St Edmund’s hosted an East Kent Schools Together Art Workshop, led by local artist and former pupil, Esther Miles (nee Barnes). A group of art students met with pupils from St Anselm’s School and together we designed and began to decorate deckchair covers for the Turner Contemporary exhibition, using recycled fabrics and embroidery. The aim of the session was to share ideas and fabrics, as well as exploit Esther’s knowledge of sewing! We all loved experimenting with fabric, a medium few of us had used previously. It was an inspiring and enjoyable morning, and I am really looking forward to the next session in May.
I would like to say thank you to Esther Miles, the EKST teachers and staff and the Canterbury Christchurch ambassadors for all their help and ideas.
