Sports Science group visit Priestfield Stadium
The Middle Fifth Cambridge National Sports Science group travelled to the Priestfield Stadium, home of Gillingham Football Club on Wednesday, to investigate how technology has an impact on football and spectatorship.
The tour involved a look around the hydro pool, ice baths and newly equipped strength and conditioning suite used to maintain players’ performance. The group were shown the seating areas and treated to refreshments in one of the VIP boxes. They visited the players’ lounge where video analysis of previous games takes place, allowing evaluation and feedback to inform improvements in performance.
The group also had the opportunity to speak to the First Team Coach, Ian Cox, about his experience of playing in a Word Cup Tournament for Trinidad and Tobago and the day to day coaching of a professional football team.
