Fairtrade Fortnight celebrations in Lower School

To celebrate this national annual event, children in Lower School have been involved in a variety of Fairtrade related activities.

One of the highlights this year was our Fairtrade Activity Day. LS children were organised in houses and enjoyed 4 workshops linked to Fairtrade:

  1. There was the Recycling Challenge: Children had to create a new species of Rainforest animals, adapted to the changing climate.
  2. A day in the life of Beshey: An activity that taught children about the life of a child of cocoa farmers in Sierra Leone.
  3. Creating Fairtrade Bunting to celebrate 25 years of the Fairtrade mark
  4. Designing and making of a Fairtrade-themed clay tile

The children always amaze us with their creativity and ability to turn recycling materials into something new and special. They also showed great teamwork skills and a real thirst for finding out about other children’s lives around the world.

Well done, Lower School!
