Pre Season Football and Hockey 2019

There was a fantastic turn out for this year’s pre season training with over 20 girls and 20 boys back to sport after the long Summer holidays. A morning of gentle warm up activities and skills with Mr Stubbings and Mr Millard was followed by a modified games afternoon, with plenty of time for rest, refuelling and re-hydration.

We were delighted to be joined by Steve Tapley and Will Rourke from Chelsea FC Foundation. They gave an interesting talk to the pupils after lunch, highlighting the importance of developing a strong work ethic in terms of fitness and drills, using rest and relaxation to the full and keeping a balance of activities to avoid injury. They led the afternoon football session, with amongst other practices, the accuracy of crossing the ball into the box and attacking/defending play in the box. Our pupils worked incredibly hard and remained very focused throughout. My thanks to Steve and Will for their time and we look forward to seeing them again at St Edmund’s School with the launch of our new co-curricular club on Thursdays after school for Forms 7, 8 and the Lower Fifth.
