Exploring your options
Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever make.
And sometimes, plans change unexpectedly.
If you are exploring September entry, considering a mid-year move, or simply feeling uncertain about your child’s current school, we are here to help.
Every family’s situation is different, and a friendly, informal conversation can provide clarity on potential options and, hopefully, reassurance.
We welcome enquiries from families at all stages, whether you are actively seeking a place or just beginning to explore possibilities.
Our kind and supportive admissions team will listen carefully, answer your questions honestly, and talk you through how we support pupils joining at different points in their education.
There is no pressure and no obligation — just a chance to understand your options and decide what feels right for your child.
If you would value a confidential conversation, please contact our Admissions Officers, Ayah and Jude, on 01227 475600 or email: admissions@stedmunds.org.uk
We look forward to speaking with you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. While September is our main entry point, we regularly support pupils joining at different stages of the academic year, subject to availability.
We understand that some families may be navigating unexpected changes. Our priority is to provide stability and clarity during what can feel like an unsettled time.
Our Heads of Department are experienced in welcoming pupils mid-course and ensuring they integrate smoothly into classes and subject pathways.
This is something we manage carefully and thoughtfully.
In many cases, exam board specifications have significant overlap. Our Heads of Department review each pupil’s current courses and identify any differences in content or assessment style.
Where adjustment is needed, teachers provide structured guidance and targeted support to ensure continuity and confidence. We will always advise honestly on the best academic pathway for your child.
Before joining, we take time to understand each pupil’s academic background and current progress.
Departments assess prior learning early and, where appropriate, put structured support in place — whether that is subject-specific guidance, mentoring or carefully planned catch-up work.
Our aim is to protect both progress and confidence, ensuring pupils feel secure rather than overwhelmed.
We recognise that moving schools can bring a mixture of emotions.
Pastoral care is central to our approach. Tutors and housemaster work closely with new pupils to ensure they feel known and supported from the outset. We consider friendships, interests and personality when planning integration, and ensure that each child has clear points of contact during their first weeks.
Our focus is on providing reassurance, routine and a strong sense of belonging.
Educational journeys are not always straightforward. Where appropriate, we review subject combinations and course options carefully to ensure they reflect a pupil’s strengths and future aspirations.
Our academic leadership team works closely with families to find practical, thoughtful solutions that minimise disruption and maintain momentum.
Not at all. An initial conversation is simply an opportunity to ask questions and understand what might be possible.
We recognise that families may need time and space to consider their options, particularly in changing circumstances. There is no obligation — just a confidential and supportive discussion.
