Junior School music festival & concert – 29th june and 1st july 2021

The day began with half an hour of splendid songs and individual piano and violin solos from the Pre-Prep, led by Mrs Butler. Mrs Renshaw-Kidd was our adjudicator for the day and there were 115 entries in 24 different class categories, ranging from Beginners to Advanced, and Ensembles. She commented most notably on the skill, high standard and quantity of the entrants. Every performer in the two separate bubbles from forms 3-5 and 6-8 played with confidence and communicated their pieces well. The winners from each class had the opportunity to perform again in the Junior School Concert on Thursday evening where they were punctuated by Ensemble group items from the Musical Theatre Club, the Lower and Upper School Junior Choirs, and String Ensembles.
Thanks go to all performers for enriching our lives and touching the audience with a range of expression that belies their years. A special thank you too, goes to Mrs Butler, Mr Tassell, Mrs Futcher, Mr Swatman, Mrs Walker plus all the staff and parents who supported or prepared our young musicians in this special event to enable us to make music together in a live context again.
