The annual Junior and Senior School Michaelmas concert was enjoyed by a packed audience in the Theatre on Thursday evening.

A wide variety of items from virtually all the school ensembles were showcased; the pupils’ commitment and dedication could not be faulted and they delivered their repertoire with passion, energy and great skill. Each half of the concert was opened with performances from the two school orchestras; EKCO at the start and the Senior School Symphony Orchestra directly after the interval.

The school choral ensembles were well-represented with items from the Lower and Upper School Junior Choirs, Musical Theatre Club, Boys’ Choir, Senior Chapel Choir, and the Chamber Choir, including a solo item from Les Miserables sung by James Hodgkinson. The concert was a great opportunity for younger musicians to listen and watch their older counterparts in action, and it was a delight to see the Junior Brass players working together with some of the senior school musicians. Junior and Senior String ensembles played a demanding repertoire, including a Vivaldi Concerto movement for four violins. The Flute Ensemble delighted the audience with their clear tone and punchy rhythms and the concert was brought to a close by two up-tempo numbers from the Big Band, culminating in an encore.

Thank you to all the pupils and staff involved for giving us such an enjoyable concert.
