St Edmund's
In Year 2, we give children individual attention as they work to meet their learning targets. Simultaneously, we place a focus on citizenship – encouraging and rewarding positive behaviour, thoughtfulness and good manners.
Curriculum
Curiosity sits at the heart of learning in Year 2. Pupils are encouraged to ask big questions as they explore imagination, dreams and belonging, alongside ideas of courage and responsibility. They begin to investigate concepts such as truth and belief, using evidence, enquiry and thoughtful discussion to develop their understanding of the past and the wider world.
School Life
As their confidence grows, Year 2 pupils have increasing opportunities to enjoy the wider life of St Edmund’s. Sport, Music, Drama and other activities complement classroom learning, encouraging children to be creative, active and collaborative. These experiences help pupils discover new interests while building friendships and enjoying being part of the wider school community.
Growing in Confidence
Year 2 prepares children for the next stage of Junior School life by encouraging greater independence and responsibility. Strong pastoral care helps pupils navigate friendships and social challenges while developing empathy, resilience and self-regulation. Close relationships between home and school ensure each child continues to be supported as an individual.
