Pre-Reception – Year 6 | From September 2026

From September 2026, St Edmund’s will launch its newly structured Junior School, bringing together Pre-Reception to Year 6 in one cohesive setting.

Building on our strong foundations, the Junior School will continue to ensure that every child is known, supported and encouraged to achieve their very best. With a broad curriculum, high-quality teaching and a strong sense of community, we create an environment where children develop curiosity, confidence and a love of learning.

Pastoral Care

We believe that when pupils feel safe, valued, and understood, they are far more confident to take risks in their learning, build positive friendships, and develop resilience.

Strong pastoral care means staff notice worries early, guide children through social challenges, and nurture important life skills such as empathy, and self-regulation.

It also strengthens the partnership between school and home, ensuring that each child is supported as an individual.

Curriculum

Our powerful human concepts curriculum provides a foundation for children to make sense of themselves and the world around them. Through engaging enquiry questions and cross-curricular experiences, pupils create meaningful, memorable learning that sparks curiosity, encourages critical thinking, and fosters creativity.

Enriching the curriculum, STEM opportunities promote problem-solving, collaboration and hands-on exploration, enabling children to think like scientists, engineers and designers as they investigate real-world challenges.

Equally, the Performing Arts play a vibrant role in school life. Through music, drama and dance, pupils build confidence, express themselves creatively and experience the joy of performance.

By blending high academic standards and imaginative opportunities, our curriculum shapes thoughtful, curious learners equipped with the academic and social skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
