Mr James Clapp

Director of Boarding

James Clapp is the Director of Boarding at St Edmund’s, having joined the Senior School Leadership team in September 2024, succeeding Edwin Jones. He has been part of the St Edmund’s community since 2008, starting as a Biology teacher, and has since held roles including Deputy Housemaster of Watson, Head of PSHEE, Wellbeing Coordinator, and Housemaster of Baker.

With extensive experience in pastoral care and a deep understanding of the St Edmund’s ethos, James leads the boarding community with empathy and support. He is dedicated to continuing the development of St Edmund’s boarding provision, ensuring every pupil thrives in a safe and welcoming environment.

James lives locally with his wife, Harriet, and is committed to nurturing the strong sense of community and care that defines St Edmund’s boarding life.
