Mrs Marie Florence
Housemaster - Warneford
After a decade designing sets and crafting props, I took the leap into freelancing to fund my BA (Hons) in Design and Technology with QTS at Greenwich University. That decision opened the door to teaching—first as Head of DT at Dover Girls’ Grammar, and later at St Edmund’s School, where I’ve now spent over a decade shaping creative education.
As Head of Department for six years, I championed Design and Technology as a genuine career pathway, with a special focus on inspiring young women to see engineering as their space too.
Today, with more than 25 years of experience spanning creative design, project management, and education, I am proud to serve as a Housemaster at St Edmund’s School Canterbury and President of the Staff Common Room. These roles allow me to support both staff well-being and student growth—ensuring the school thrives as a community while individuals flourish within it.
Beyond education, I continue to work as a Creative Design Consultant and Freelancer, collaborating with clients to deliver innovative, tailor-made design solutions. At the heart of everything I do is a mission: to nurture creativity, encourage collaboration, and inspire the next generation of designers, makers, and thinkers.
Always curious and forward-looking, I thrive on new challenges and opportunities to help both students and colleagues reach their full potential.
