James Clapp

Mr Clapp was appointed to the role of Director of Boarding at St Edmund’s on September 2024, succeeding Dr Edwin Jones. James joined us in September 2008, initially as a Biology teacher. Over the years, he has taken on other key responsibilities, serving as Deputy Housemaster of Watson as well as holding the positions of Head of PSHEE and Wellbeing Coordinator.

In 2019, he assumed the role of Baker Housemaster. James’s extensive experience and knowledge of pastoral care, his deep understanding of the St Edmund’s ethos and his empathetic, supportive nature make him perfectly suited to lead the St Edmund’s boarding community towards continued improvement and success. He will also join the Senior School Leadership team where his vision and commitment to school improvement will be valuable attributes. I congratulate warmly James and his wife Harriet on this appointment and look forward to working with him closely in the years ahead to develop our outstanding boarding provision.
