Combined Cadet force

With Summer camp cancelled, our senior NCOs suffered an agonising wait for the announcement of the new CSM.

Given the calibre of all our Upper Sixth NCOs this proved to be a difficult process indeed. As such, Colour Sergeant French and I have decided, this year, to recognise the outstanding commitment, and quality, of our leaders by appointing an RSM, a CSM and promoting the remaining Sergeants to Colour Sergeants.

This has only happened once in our tenure, with a similar year group. The lead recipient then, now a commissioned officer with PWRR.

And so, this year’s RSM recipient is Max Lester. A pupil who leads by example, wears his heart on his sleeve and is highly respected by his peers. He has achieved high accolades, from regular serving soldiers, throughout his time in the CCF and will, no doubt, enthuse a new generation of cadet during his tenure.

His supporting compatriot, the new CSM, is Jonny Golding. Another passionate devotee of the cadet movement, a highly skilled practitioner, and, one of our finest marksmen.

Colour Sergeant French and I look forward to supporting them, as they learn the finite details of leading, and managing, an infantry platoon and I have no doubt, that these two fine young men will excel as they rise to the challenge.

Good luck gentlemen.
