Sport is a very important part of a St Edmund’s School Pre- Prep education. We encourage all children to be active, with our fun and varied Physical Education lessons giving opportunities for pupils to develop a love of physical activity.
Vital life skills are developed with an emphasis placed on good listening, sharing, turn taking and teamwork.
Activities are based around agility, balance and coordination, which are learnt through a range of sports. Children take part in ball skills, including activities based on modified basketball, football and hockey. Pupils develop their spatial awareness, hand eye coordination and the importance of rules for fair play. Athletic and Gymnastic activities also play a key role in Physical Education, developing body strength and control.
The children are taught by Physical Education specialists and use the school’s excellent facilities, including the all-weather pitch, sports hall and playing fields. Children from Reception Class to Year 2 also greatly enjoy their weekly swimming lessons taught by specialist teachers at a local pool.
The annual Sports Day is an exciting event which brings Pre-Prep children together to show off their sports skills to family and friends.
