Pre-Prep Reception – Honeybees
The Reception classroom is a bright and welcoming space with direct access to an outdoor area, designed to support both independent and guided learning.
As part of the Early Years Foundation Stage, Reception (Honeybees) marks a gentle shift towards more structured sessions in Reading, Writing and Maths, while continuing to place strong emphasis on play, creativity and practical exploration.
Children benefit from a themed approach to learning, enriched by trips, visitors and hands-on activities. They also have regular access to the wider school site – including play areas, the woods, and other outdoor learning spaces – giving them the freedom to explore and develop their confidence in a safe and supportive environment.
Specialist teaching in Swimming, PE, Music and French is part of the weekly timetable, broadening their experience and helping to build key skills. Parents are encouraged to stay involved in their child’s learning, whether by supporting reading and games at home or contributing to class topics and activities.
