St Edmund's
Pastoral Care & Wellbeing
At St Edmund’s, great emphasis is placed upon the importance of supporting young people and of recognising the individual.
We understand that our pupils come to us with different experiences and aspirations, and we feel that this makes our community stronger and richer. We strive for excellent pastoral care so that all of our children can flourish.
Meet our Senior School Pastoral Team
All pupils benefit from membership of four houses and we ensure that day pupils and boarders are equally mixed within them, enabling strong bonds to be formed. Housemasters, their deputies and the tutor teams are responsible for the pastoral, academic, social and personal welfare of the pupils in their care. We ensure that tutor groups remains small, in order to maximise the access of pupils to their tutor.
The pastoral team comprises the Deputy Head Pastoral, Director of Safeguarding, Chaplain, Director of Boarding, housemasters, deputy housemasters, tutors, resident boarding staff, Director of Wellbeing, matrons, Medical Centre staff and counsellor. These individuals work closely with pupils and parents and understand that they are trusted to offer good advice. We are confident that our pupils feel able to approach any one of these adults should they want to discuss issues which are causing them difficulty.
The school offers a comprehensive Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHEE) programme as part of the curriculum.
THE PASTORAL STRUCTURE

"The pastoral care at St Edmund’s is outstanding. My child always feels supported and listened to, and I know the tutors and housemasters are approachable and genuinely care about their wellbeing. It gives me real peace of mind as a parent." St Edmund's Parent
